English in Italy: Iris Origo
This talk, the first in a series on men and women of English background who by choice or chance underwent life-changing experiences in Italy, focuses on the eclectic scholar and Tuscan landowner Dame Iris Origo. She not only stayed on in Italy during WWII but left for future generations the memory of her courage and humanity, a wealth of publications and La Foce, the estate she and her husband had rescued and brought back to perfect running order.
