Women may fall when there’s no strength in men
As Friar Lawrence’s premonition shows, Shakespeare was much aware of the male-driven, male-dominated structure of societies past and present, and yet he created a range of powerful, charismatic roles for women. This seminar examines male-female relationships, particularly in Macbeth, Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice and Romeo and Juliet.
