The functions of songs in Shakespeare’s plays

With music such an integral part of Renaissance life, it is not surprising to find a wide variety of songs in Shakespeare’s plays, from rowdy sing-alongs to more incisive works underscoring specific themes and situations. This seminar will offer a selection of the various kinds and relate  them to the music of the times.

Giordano Dall’Armellina, author, musician and singer
