From the Lake District and spooky castles to the American Wilderness and beyond
This presentation will trace the influence of the English Romantic poets and Gothic novelists on American literature, as far as the Civil War, focussing on protagonists like Emerson, Whitman and Edgar Allan Poe. The talk will be animated by video & audio-clips, as well as music.
