Bridges and walls: discussing change and diversity in the Mediterranean

Bridges and Walls: discussing change and diversity in the Mediterranean, was an event created by the British Council in Italy to raise awareness of the issue of migration in Europe.

The event began with the screening of the British Council short film: Desti\Nations, which highlights migration issues from an Italian perspective by interweaving an animated fictional story with the analysis of Lucio Caracciolo, director of Limes magazine. A moderated panel discussion then focussed on migration in the Mediterranean, specifically looking at the cultural challenges of change and diversity.

The director of the British School at Rome, Christopher Smith introduced the evening, while British Council Italy’s director, Paul Sellers, moderated the panel discussion, whose participants were: UNHCR Regional Representative for Southern Europe, Stephane Jacquemet, UNICEF Response on Migrant and Refugee Children Team Web Manager, Alberto Atzori,  journalist Tahar Lamri, and Giorgio Zanchini, journalist and presenter of "Radio Anch'io", a daily national radio show on RAI Radio Uno.
