Shakespeare’s Happy Comedies
This lecture starts with a discussion of the nature of Shakespeare’s comic spirit and strategies before going on to an in-depth study of the group of plays Dover Wilson famously grouped together as the ‘Happy Comedies’, particularly Much Ado About Nothing, As You Like It and Twelfth Night.
