"A girl, a woman"
The one missing and never found, the other suicide or “suicided”. From the depths of the rural beauty of the Peak District to the tawdry outskirts of a get-rich-quick Bari. Two female destinies telling of loss, pain and mystery. Both tragedies serve to trigger in-depth studies of the nature of two societies and the individuals giving life to them. This seminar will present John McGregor’s Reservoir 13 and Nicola Lagioia’s La ferocia, comparing the two novels and discussing their narrative strategies and strengths.
Martha Cooley, Adelphi University, New York
The seminars are free of charge.
