Emily Dickinson under the spotlight

This seminar will present two dramatic works focusing on the fascinatingly enigmatic poet Emily Dickinson.  It will start with William Luce’s 1976 dramatic monologue The Belle of Amherst, investigating its use of letters and poems and showing how they lend themselves to translation.  It will then compare and contrast the figure of Dickinson as shown in both Luce’s one-woman theatre pièce and Terence Davies’s 2017 biopic A Quiet Passion.
Language:  Italian
