Brexit: why, when and how
This seminar traces the uneasy and at times fraught relationship between Great Britain and the ideals/reality of a federal Europe. It illustrates the “marked and very original habits and traditions” of the former empire, its attempts both to join the European club and now leave it. It then goes on to discuss some of the main stumbling blocks, like UK autonomy, the ECJ, the 30 odd billion euros due to the Union, Northern Ireland and the backstop, as well as domestic conflict between the Brexiteers and the Remainers.
