Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) online course

The 20-hour online CLIL methodology course provides training for integrating the teaching of curriculum subjects in English, both in primary and secondary schools, through the British Council’s interactive and practical methodology.

A minimum English level of B2 is required to do this course. There are no mandatory projects or assignments outside of course time. 

Knowledge and principles of CLIL

  1. Introduction: Aims and rationale for CLIL; CLIL and EFL
  2. Language and communication skills across the curriculum
  3. Cognitive skills and learning skills across the curriculum

Lesson preparation

  1. Planning a lesson and a series of lessons: Language demands of subject content and accompanying tasks
  2. Resources: Materials selection and adaptation
  3. Task types: Adapting authentic material

Lesson delivery

  1. Classroom language: Scaffolding content and language learning
  2. Learning strategies: Consolidating learning and differentiation

Assessment

  1. Focus on assessment: Types of assessment
  2. Support strategies: Course revision

  • The 20-hour course costs € 250.
  • We accept payments using the Carta del Docente 
  • Participants who attend 75% or more of the course will get an attendance certificate and the course will be accredited on the SOFIA platform.
