About this course

If you are looking for an internationally recognised teaching qualification, we have the course that is right for you.

The Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) is an introductory course for candidates who have little or no previous English language teaching experience. It may also be suitable for candidates with some experience but little previous training.

Our CELTA courses are validated by, and certificates are issued and awarded by the Cambridge English Language Assessment, part of the University of Cambridge.

This teacher training course aims at providing a solid, practical foundation for teaching, classroom management skills and a range of effective English as a Second Language (ESL) / English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructional techniques. Candidates who complete the course can successfully begin working in a variety of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teaching contexts around the world.

During this intensive course you will learn how to teach English to adult learners with support and guidance from your tutors. The course concentrates on practical aspects of teaching including:

• teaching practice

• analysis of language, form, meaning and pronunciation

• techniques for presenting and practising new language

• techniques to develop speaking, listening, reading & writing skills

• using teaching aids

You will be assessed through your teaching practice, assignments and participation in workshops.

You should meet the following requirements:

• be 20 years old by the start of the course

• have a good standard of education (2 “A” levels or equiv.)

• have a standard of English equal to that of a native speaker

The applications are screened by our tutors and shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview. Successful candidates will be notified shortly afterwards.

We strongly recommend you recommended don’t take on any outside commitments during the course due to its intensive nature.
