The British Council cooperates with the Admissions Testing Service providing admission tests to the best English-language degree, master, MBA programmes organised by universities and colleges in UK, USA, Australia, etc.
The exams are subject-specific tests taken by applicants for Medicine, Philosophy, Politics, Economics, Law, Mathematics and other related courses. They include:
- BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT): The BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) is an admissions test for applicants to medicine, veterinary medicine and similar courses at universities.
- Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA)
- Classics Admissions Test (CAT)
The Classics Admissions Test (CAT) is a pre-interview test for applicants to undergraduate courses in Classics and its joint schools at the University of Oxford. - English Literature Admissions Test (ELAT)
The English Literature Admissions Test (ELAT) is a pre-interview test for applicants to undergraduate courses in English at the University of Oxford. - History Aptitude Test (HAT)
The History Aptitude Test (HAT) is a pre-interview test for applicants to the University of Oxford’s undergraduate courses in History and its joint schools. - Mathematics Aptitude Test (MAT)
The Mathematics Admissions Test (MAT) is a pre-interview test for applicants to the University of Oxford’s undergraduate courses in Mathematics, Computer Science and their joint schools. As of 2013, Imperial College London will also use the test for applicants to all of its undergraduate Mathematics courses. - Modern Languages Admissions Test (MLAT)
The Modern Languages Admissions Tests (MLAT) are for applicants to the University of Oxford’s undergraduate courses in Modern Languages and related courses. - Oriental Languages Aptitude Test (OLAT)
The Oriental Languages Aptitude Test (OLAT) is for applicants to certain undergraduate courses in Oriental Languages at the University of Oxford. - Phisics Aptitude Test (PAT)
The Physics Aptitude Test (PAT) is for applicants to the University of Oxford’s undergraduate degree courses in Engineering, Materials Science and Physics. - Sixth Term Examination Paper (STEP)
The Sixth Term Examination Paper Mathematics is a well-established mathematics examination designed to test candidates on questions that are similar in style to undergraduate mathematics. The STEP is for applicants to Mathematics courses at the University of Cambridge and the University of Warwick and is used by the University of Cambridge as the basis for conditional offers. Other universities sometimes ask candidates to take the STEP as part of their offer - in such cases, the university can advise on which papers to take. - Thinking Skills Assessment Oxford (TSA)
The Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) Oxford helps tutors to assess whether applicants have the skills and aptitudes that are required to study for certain courses.
