The chameleon-like character of British Pop
With the arrival of the Beatles, British pop became of age, and confident of its skills affirmed its own identity while starting to produce a rapid sequence of styles and forms as if in answer to the changing needs of society. The aim of this seminar is to trace a number of these movements, including punk and hip hop, Britpop and Grime, while tracing the phenomena directing/modifying commercial success, like the development of independent labels and the role of talent shows.
