About the Resource Centre

As a British Council Milan student you have access, free of charge, to our Resource Centre. However, if you cannot follow a course, you can simply join our Resource Centre. As a Resource Centre Member you will be able to borrow a very wide range of materials to improve or maintain your level of English. 

what kind of materials can you borrow in the resource centre?

• Grammar & Vocabulary books

• Easy Readers with audio CDs

• Listening and Pronunciation sets – Books with CDs &/or DVDs

• Cambridge KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS past papers and Exam skills books

• Business English: Professional English Series, BEC Preliminary, Vantage and Higher

• Legal and Financial English, ILEC and ICFE practice tests

• ELT for CELTA and Delta courses

• DVDs: Films, Classics, Documentaries, Theatre, TV series 

• E-books downloadable on your devices (either computer or tablet)

• Magazines: Speak Up, Harvard Business Review and The Economist

 

• Modern and Classic novels

what are your Borrowing rights?

• 2 books for 2 weeks + 1 DVD for 1 week at a time renewable twice.

• Exam Material: 1 item for 1 week renewable twice.

• 2 e-books at a time for 2 weeks maximum renewable once.

  1. At the Resource Centre: You can reserve and renew items, pick up materials reserved in advance, choose materials available on the shelves and ask the Resource Centre staff for advice.
  2. From home: on any device (computers, tablets or smartphones. See the file in the "Downloads" section on how to download the Resource Centre app), reserve and renew items, and download/read online e-books on your devices (computer or tablet only – NOT smartphone).

Is it possible to borrow materials “on the spot”?

Certainly! A selection of materials has been displayed on the shelves but you can find the whole collection in the catalogue, especially DVDs.

If you study at a satellite centre, our delivery service will allow you to pick up and return materials in class.

Costs and how to join

To join our Resource Centre please visit us in Via Manzoni, 38 in Milan.

British Council offices in Via Manzoni are open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00.

You can join the Resource Centre by coming in person and paying for the membership fee at the cash desk.

Payment methods accepted: credit card, check or cash.

Cost: €100
(€80 for parents of students enrolled into our courses and €50 for State school teachers)

Duration: 12 months

Please note that the Resource Centre follows British Council Milan academic calendar. It also closes in August and has reduced hours in September.
