About this course

Do you enjoy watching and talking about films? Then come to the British Council and explore the world of cinema. 

Cinema is often said to be the most exciting art form to come out of the 20th century and covers everything from Hollywood blockbusters to art house films. On this course we will look at a range of films from classics to modern.  We will discuss different aspects of cinema including genre, directors, actors, style, cinematography, reviews and critiques and of course language. We will also look at the history of cinema and analyse its influence on us today. 

This is a great way to expand your English, so come and join us.

This year we will be looking at three very different British directors including ‘The Master of Suspense’ Alfred Hitchcock, the commercially successful Ridley Scott, known for his atmospheric, visual style, and the experimental director Andrea Arnold winner of the Prix du Jury at the 2016 Cannes Film festival.
